Qatar: Cameroonians warned ‘Hayya Card’ issued during 2022 FIFA world cup is not work visa.

The President of the Cameroonian community in Qatar, Rene
Mebenga, has issued a statement informing Cameroonians at home and abroad that: ‘Haya Card’ is not a work visa in the country, contrary to some falsehoods peddled by scam artist networks.

Haya Cards were issued to non residents to permit them travel to the country for the 2022 FIFA world cup hosted by Qatar.

However in January 2023, the Qatari ministry of interior issued a statement extending the expiry of the card to 2024.

“…………the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that the validity of Hayya Cards will be extended until 24th January 2024” said the Rene Mebenga adding that: “The ministry also announced that international fans with Haya can invite friends and family members using the ‘Hayya With Me’ option.”

According to reports some scam artist networks have been using this pretext to extort money from Cameroonians promising them jobs in the Kingdom of Qatar using ‘Hayya Card’.

“Only recently there have been news on the social media space of visitors being misled by unscrupulous
individuals to think that Hayya Card holders can get employed.” said the Cameroonian community leader in Qatar.

Stating clearly that the Hayya Card is not a work visa he stressed that, “Only international Hayya Card holders can invite friends and families.”

” Hayya Card is not a work visa neither can it be exchanged with a work visa,” he emphasized.

Advising Cameroonians at home to carry out proper investigations before engaging in the process,he called on them to always get in touch with the Community for assistance.
