Regional Delegate refuses to pay teacher’s allowance – People’s Voice (PV)

In today’s segment of People’s Voice (PV), we bring you this complaint from teachers in the South West region who state that their allowances have not been paid by the responsible authorities.

Read the full complaint from one of them below:

Greetings, Mimi Mefo Info Team!

Thank you for being the Voice of the Voiceless.

I am a teacher, and I’m writing from Limbe. I was recruited by the government in 2019 and sent to Kumba with other colleagues.

While others were sent to different towns still in the South West region, others were sent to other regions.

Since our posting, we have been working earnestly, but the Regional Delegation for the South West region, headed by Dr. Mbuah Hannah Etonde, has vehemently refused to pay our transport allowance (the batch of 2019 posted to the South West).

We have been visiting this Delegation time and again, and they keep saying there is no transport allowance for us. This is the fourth year and counting.

Our colleagues in other regions have all received their transport allowance.

My worry is who might have embezzled this transport allowance (we are many, so if it’s multiplied, it gives a huge sum). Why are people like this? We hope someone somewhere should look into the matter, so we can also receive our transport allowance like others from different regions.

Thank you!
