Regional Election: Observers decry militarization of polling stations

From the entrance to Bonanjo from Bonapriso passing through the Lycée Joss lone polling Centre to the immigration office have been militarised.

At the Lycée Joss campus where councilors and traditional rulers are voting in four polling stations, armed-to-the-teeth gendarmes and policemen and women are present.

Bell Faustin Simplice, a national observer from Group Nouvelle Afrigue (GNA) frowns at this.
“…this polling station has been militarised and it frightens some voters from fulfilling their civic responsibility freely. We, observers, agree that there should be security but the place should not be militarised as though Douala is in a warzone.”

To Amadou Tarnteh, another observer, “…the security is good . It prevents unforeseen occurrences.”

As of 9:10 am Sunday, December 6, 2020, less than 9 voters out of 336 of the total voters in Wouri had cast their votes.
