Regional Hospital Director celebrates dwindling malaria cases in Bamenda

The Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, Dr Denis Nsame has disclosed that there is a significant drop in the number of malaria cases recorded in the hospital.



The medic explained that the significant drop is due to the provision of equipment to pregnant women as well as the intensified distribution of treated mosquito bed nets by the government and her partners.



Dr. Denis Nsame has revealed that between 2017 and 2021, cases of malaria infections have reduced from over 6000 to about 2000.



Citing the provision of treatment to pregnant women as key in further reducing the current figures,he says,
“Provision of intermittent preventive treatment to pregnant women, we have a mass distribution of mosquito bed nets and proper diagnosis and treatment of suspected cases of malaria”, Dr. Denis Nsame said.


The coordinator of the regional technical group for the fight against Malaria, Dr. Charles Keucha has challenged the population of the North West to make proper use of the treated mosquito bed nets distributed free of charge in other to effectively combat malaria.
