İt was a gloomy Sunday within the ranks of the Cameroon security corps as retired Colonel Jean Pierre Bebouraka was declared dead on December 20, 2020 after suffering from a heart attack as he exercised.
The retired Colonel died in Bafia, Center Region and his body transported to the capital, Yaoundé for adequate preparations ahead of an official funeral.
Colonel Bebouraka retired just over a year ago, having spent most of his time in the South Region. His most notable achievement as a colonel was his determined fight against the Highway robbery phenomenon in the North Region. His limitations of these robbers during his time in the North was a great relief to passengers who frequented the North region as they constantly travelled in extreme fear of these thugs who did not only rob, but equally killed victims who tried to resist.
Colonel Bebouraka equally was one of the very first officers of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) as it was transformed from the Battalion Léger D’intervention (BLI). A great lover of Basketball, he had a heart attack as he practiced the game in the comfort of his retirement.
