Rising insecurity in Douala neighbourhoods

The circulation of vehicles, motorcycles and pedestrian has once again effectively resume at Ndokoti Round About in Douala.

Twenty five suspected bandits arrested Thursday October 8th 2020 are being interrogated on allegations of disturbance of public peace, vandalism and banditry.

According to a commercial motorcycle rider, ” I arrived Ndokoti round about at about 7:00pm. I saw people running for safety to different directions. I had to run first. I later found out that about 40 boys armed with pointed objects blocked the road harassing people. “

To a local vendor at the roundabout, such happening are not strange. “… they do that all the time taking money and things from people without fear of police men”

Inhabitants are pointing accusing fingers at poor security service in the city that has permitted hardened criminals and bandits not only to steal but to take part of the city hostage to attain their goal when and where ever they choose.
