Sadio Mane in talks with Al Nassr, Bayern Munich confirms

Senegalese International striker Sadio Mane, now playing for Bayern Munich, reportedly has discussions ongoing with Saudi club Al Nassr, according to a statement released by Bayern Munich on Saturday.

A tweet from the German champions read, “Sadio Mane is in contract negotiations about a change of club and is therefore not in the line-up today.” Mane was not included in the roster for the friendly.

The former Liverpool great, now 31 years old, is set to become the latest high-profile player to sign with the lucrative Saudi league.
It was stated in Bild and Kicker that he was going to see Al Nassr for the standard checkup.

Mane would be a huge addition to the team that landed Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, in the first major acquisition by a Saudi club.

Mane was an integral element of Jurgen Klopp’s lethal front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino throughout his six seasons with Liverpool, during which time they won the Premier League and the Champions League.

Mane scored 18 goals as Liverpool won the English Premier League in the flu-plagued 2019-2020 season.

However, after winning the African Player of the Year award in the summer of 2022, Mane decided he wanted a fresh challenge; rumors suggested he was bored of sharing the spotlight with Egypt’s Salah at Anfield.

Bayern made a strong pitch for Mane, saying they would use him to replace Robert Lewandowski in the starting lineup once he left for Barcelona.
Mane had a promising start to the season at Bayern, but things quickly went downhill for him there.
