Samuel Eto’o Crowned Prince of Assinie in Cote D’Ivoire.

Former Cameroonian professional footballer Samuel Eto’o has been crowned Prince of Assinie in Ivory Coast. The President of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) was given the title by the Ivorian authorities during the inauguration ceremony of the Assouindé sports complex.

Eto’o, who is a native of Douala in Cameroon, is married to an Ivorian woman and has been a long-time supporter of the Assinie community. He has donated money to build schools and hospitals in the area, and he has also helped promote tourism in the region.

The title of Prince of Assinie is a high honour that is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the community. Eto’o is the first person from outside of Ivory Coast to be given the title.

In a statement, Eto’o said that he was “humbled and honoured” to be named Prince of Assinie. He said that he would continue to work to support the community and promote the development of football in Ivory Coast.

A number of well-known guests were present at the Assouindé sports complex’s inauguration ceremony. The complex includes a football stadium, a basketball court, and a swimming pool. It is expected to be a major boost for sports development in the region.

Eto’o’s coronation as Prince of Assinie is a further sign of his growing influence in Africa. He is already one of the most successful African footballers of all time, and he is now using his platform to make a positive impact on the continent.

These honours are coming at a time when Eto’o is facing a lot of challenges in Cameroon within the context of his role as the president of FECAFOOT. One of these has been a recent investigation launched by the Confederation of African Football, which has been criticised by Cameroon football legend, Roger Milla.
