Samuel Eto’o Receives Traditional Recognition in Bakoko-Wouri

Samuel Eto’o Fils, football legend and president of the Cameroon Football Federation, (FECAFOOT), has received the title of ‘Notable’ of Bakoko-Wouri. This is a village in Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala.

This was during a special colourful ceremony in Japoma on Sunday, December 22, 2024, presided over by the traditional ruler of Bakoko-Wouri, Chief Erik Jamil Songue.

Ahead of the occasion, Samuel Eto’o Fils, accompanied by Roger Mila, were treated to a warm welcome by the living forces of Bakoko-Wouri.

During the visit , Chief Erik Jamil Songue through his mouth piece Mitin Nzangwa expressed gratitude and honor,the visit represent for the people of Bakoko-Wouri.He congratulated the football legend for his positive energy in impacting the community.

The high point of the event marked by cultural display was the enthronement of Samuel Eto’o Fils with the title of ‘Notable’ of the first-class chiefdom of Bakoko-Wouri.

The traditional title, according to Chief Erik Jamil Songue, “is a mark of recognition for his commitment at the service of young people and cultural development.”

Adding his voice to that of the traditional ruler, Albert Roger Mila, another legend of African football, emphasised the importance of national unity and the transmission of values, highlighting the impact of Samuel Eto’o Fils in promoting sport and culture.

Other activities that graced the occasion include feasting, walking in the ranch, horse racing, and traditional wrestling.
