Some pupils and students of nursery, primary and secondary schools in Nkambe town in the North West region of Cameroon have been receiving lectures this morning September 2nd 2019 for the start of the academic year 2019/2020.
The students, parents, education stakeholders and the administration in the town did not heed to threats of attacks from separatist fighters.
At Government Bilingual High School Nkambe, Government Technical High School Nkambe and several other both private and public primary schools around the town, students and pupils have been in class while others are cleaning the school environment.
Some school officials have opted not to focus on the issue of registration or payment of fees as a means to encourage kids to go to school. Streets in Nkambe were however deserted earlier today and businesses closed.
Despite this, in Ako subdivision still in Donga Mantung, no school has opened its door today.
This is because of the recent clashes between separatist fighters and the regular military.
It is a similar situation in Misaje, Ndu and Nwa subdivisions that have been targets of the separatist fighters and military brutality of recent.
