Schools resume timidly in Alou Sub-Division

Less than twenty students have attended school at government secondary school Alou, Lebialem division in the restive South West region of Cameroon today Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
One day after official school resumption in Cameroon, the fear that separatists will attack teachers and students in the locality has kept students at home.

The divisional officer of Alou has reassured the population of security. Speaking at GSS Alou, Ambang Felix Kah says “I have told teachers to be ready to work this year. The state has taken measures to ensure that schools will be operational no matter all threats. Parents should send their kids to school.”

To the students, the D.O explained the necessity of education for a better future. For security reasons, the students are in assorted dresses.

Alou and other parts of Lebialem have for three years witnessed activities of Ambazonia restoration forces. Inhabitants say some parts of Lebialem are controlled by the fighters and not the Cameroon government. An assertion the government of Caneroon has continously described as mere propaganda while stressing that not an inch of Cameroon’s territory is in the hands of the rebel fighters.
