SDO makes wearing of school uniforms compulsory in Meme

Meme Senior Divisional Officer, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong has ordered the compulsory wearing of school uniforms by students and pupils in all schools of the Meme Division.

The information is contained in a note by the Meme SDO, to the Divisional delegates of the Secondary Education, Basic Education, and Employment and Vocational Training in the Meme division.

According to the Meme SDO, the move is in a bid to avoid the penetration of criminals on school premises.

He wrote: “In order to avoid criminals in our school premises in Meme Division, I invite all of you to recommend all principals and head teachers to allow in school premises in Meme, only students in uniform.”

“A period of grace is given from the 5th to the 20th of September 2022 for all students and pupils to be in uniform at school,” Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong added.

He concluded by instructing that all students without uniforms be sent out of school.

The move comes as the dust is yet to settle after officials handed Cameroon flags to students in the North West Region. Parents were enraged, and threatened to pull out their kids.

It remains uncertain how the current decision by the Meme SDO will be taken.
