Security forces thwarted a possible bomb attack in Kumba, in the South West Region of Cameroon today August 2, 2022.
The suspicious package, reports say, was hidden under tables in a snack bar.
It was however fished out and diffused before it could cause any damage.
According to local authorities separatist fighters are behind the attempted bomb attack.
After the successful operation, the Senior Divisional Officer for the Meme Division called a crisis meeting. The meeting mainly focused on strengthening security in the Division.
The South West region, just like the North West, has been confronted with such events since the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis at the end of 2016.
The use of improvised explosive devices has increased in recent months in Cameroon, sometimes even affecting cities such as Douala and Yaoundé.
