The former defence chief of the Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC) says he has decided to remove the ban placed on “Les Brasseries du Cameroun” products from the Anglophone Regions and placed a ban on “Superrmont” mineral water.
Capo Daniel (Ndong Emmanuel) who now identifies as ‘President of the Ambazonian People Advocative Platform’ made the declaration on one of his YouTube outings,
He stressed that after a series of consultations with his collaborators, it made no sense to maintain the ban given that “Brasseries du Cameroun” and “Guinness Cameroun” are currently under the same management.
“Instead of this ban,” he said, “our forces should demand from wholesalers, snack bars and nightclubs who put extra value on their products and close late at night to pay a liberation tax. These taxes would be proportional and should be paid to the dominant force in any area of their control,” he declared.
In a video posted on YouTube where this announcement was made, Capo Daniel implied that the fact that the Anglophone regions are in a war situation, should not stop the population from socializing and enjoying their liberties.
“It is very important that our soldiers allow off-licences, beer parlours, bottle dance parlours to operate without interruption unnecessarily…” he specified.
One of the immediate factors that led to the lifting of the ban according to Capo Daniel was the death of Journalist Anye Nde Nsoh, who was killed in an operation by separatists who tried closing up a beer parlour for selling Brasseries products.
He also urged all Ambazonian groups on the ground to adhere to this recommendation and warned that the stubborn contingent of fighters who will go against this will have to explain themselves to the population.
It is worth noting, however, that Ambazonians do not currently have any legal authority to collect taxes from citizens, which remains the duty of the government of Cameroon. Recent attempts by some separatist factions in Kedjom Keku to collect similar levies from the population met with resistance from women in the community.
