Separatists kill two soldiers, one bike rider in Wat-Nkambe

Two soldiers and a bike rider have been killed in a separatist ambush in Wat, a locality in Nkambe Central subdivision of the Donga Mantung division in the crisis hit North West region.

The incident occurred when they were attacked early Saturday, August 27, 2022.


Local sources say the two soldiers were onboard a commercial motorcycle when they came under attack.

The bike rider who died from the attack, according to local sources was reportedly a member of the local vigilante group.


Bui Unity Warriors, an armed separatist militia based in Bui Division has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A video released by the fighters shows two weapons, military wear, and some identification documents seized from the soldiers killed.


One of the soldiers killed is identified as Ngouengoue Matabum Rodrique

“This is a revenge mission”, a voice is overheard in the video.

Corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the Nkambe district hospital mortuary amidst wailing from families and sympathisers.
