September 22 protests: MRC says several death recorded in Douala

With neither precise figures nor names, the MRC party has claimed that several protesters were killed by security forces in Douala during the peaceful manifestations of September 22, 2020.

This assertion was made in a press release by the Secretary General of the CRM party, Ndong Christopher on September 22, 2020.

The Secretary General asserted that the call for a general protest was massively responded to in major towns around the country, including the chief town of the Northwest Region, Bamenda.

Talking particularly on the human damages incurred during the course of the protest, Ndong in the communiqué asserted there were several deaths recorded and a host of others seriously injured due to police brutalities.

“In the Litoral region, we recorded several deaths, others carrying serious bullet wounds from forces of law and order at the service of the tyrants… more than 100 Cameroonians were arbitrarily arrested from several towns… in the South region specifically, several protesters were molested, humiliated and forced to sing praises to president Biya by the forces of law and order,” he outlined.

The CRM Secretary General also said that the call for protest was massively responded to in Bamenda as multitudes came out marching while the forces of law and order rather guided them through to avoid any collateral damage.

The North West Governor’s Office however said no such protest calls were heeded to in the region.
