Seven shot dead in Donga Mantung military raid

Seven persons are said to have been shot to death following a military raid in Nwaty village, Donga Mantung division of the North West region.

The seven were killed Saturday, MMI has learned from sources .

“The military entered the village at 5AM am and about 7 person civilians were shot to death” a source said.

Inhabitants of the village the source added later sought refuge in the bushes for fear of their lives.

Nwaty village located near Sabongari in the Nwa sub Division, is one of several areas in Donga Mantung division and the English Speaking regions of Cameroon in general affected by the armed conflict.

Early this month, inhabitants of Gom village still in the Donga Mantung division fled to the bushes accusing the military of burning their homes.

The most affected a source told MMI, are the old, the sick and pregnant ladies who could not run for safety.

Rights groups say several civilians have died in the hands of both government forces and Ambazonian fighters since the crisis escalated into an armed conflict.
