Seven-year-old Ghanaian ‘accidentally’ becomes global internet sensation

Albert Ofosu Nketia, who is only seven years old and hails from Ghana, has become an internet phenomenon after being seen in a video in which he abruptly shifts from crying to smiling within the span of a few moments.

In an interview, his mother Rosina revealed that the origin of the internet meme was when Albert started crying because he was not allowed to eat yam for dinner, but he immediately started laughing when his grandma tried to comfort him by singing a funny song. Rosina said that the incident was the catalyst for the meme’s widespread popularity.

His uncle used his phone to take a picture of the event, but the picture was never shared online. The video quickly gained widespread attention after the uncle sold the phone on which it was stored, and the new owner uploaded it to the internet.
