Soldiers have killed a suspected separatist fighter and a woman believed to his lover in Zem village on the outskirts of Mbengwi, Momo division of Cameroon’s North West region.
The detachment of soldiers are said to have ambushed the duo at dawn Wednesday May 4 and shot them to death in their sleep.
An eye withness who identified himself only as Tebot told MMI that, “they were attacked and shot death in the house while they were sleeping. We expected that they were going to be arrested given that they were not armed at the time of the incident.”
Many have also blamed the separatist fighter for the death of the lady.
Such military operations have been recurrent across the North West and South West regions since the government’s campaign against separatists.
