Leaked video of Rigobert Song suggest altercation with Onana was more tensed than reported

The fallout between Rigobert Song Bahanag and André Onana at training during the World Cup seem to have been more intense than what had previously been revealed to the press.

The argument between the manager and player caused the latter to be permanently axed from the group, with two crucial games against Serbia and Brazil yet to be played.

A leaked video after Cameroon’s elimination from the world cup suggests Song and Onana’s relationship may have been ruptured beyond repair as of now.

In the video, Rigobert Song says he and Onana clashed basically on tactical decisions which he thought would suit the team better. “I told him no! When playing with your feet, play with the wingers so that even if we lose the ball, we can pin them to the corner and recover it. It’s less risky than playing through the middle.”

According to the coach, André Onana is believed to have received his suggestions with disdain, and immediately picked a fight with him. “He got angry and left the training session. I then stopped training and we all returned to the dressing room.”

It is the very first time that Rigobert Song has addressed the issue since it happened weeks ago in Qatar. The repercussions of the altercation have been mixed, with Epassy’s shaky debut against Serbia costing the Lions 2 points, though he more than redeemed himself with an extraordinary performance against Brazil.

André Onana on his part is yet to fully address his altercation with Rigobert Song. The only response from him has been a cryptic tweet he published today which said “In a world where lying is the most common thing, telling the truth makes you revolutionary, but in the end, time will out everything in its place.”
