South West: School owners defy closure of schools to prevent COVID-19 spread

Many have expressed dissatisfaction with some school owners in Buea and Limbe in the South West region for defying the Prime minister’s decision closing down schools due to the coronavirus pandemic..

Talking to MMI, an intern teacher in one of the schools says “they are asking students to pay 18.000FCFA.”

“I think this is the method they want to use in paying teachers … By extracting 18.000FCFA from parents” the source adds.

PM Dion Ngute days back had renewed the 15-day duration of the measures put in place to limit the spread of the virus including the shutting down of schools.

Cameroon has over 300 positive COVID-19 cases already.
