The Governor of the Southwest Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, says schools shall effectively gain steam in the days ahead.
He was speaking to journalists this Monday September 2, at the end of a mission where he perused through some schools in Fako Division to take stock of the level of attendance on this first day of the new school year.
“We went through some schools in Buea, Mutengene and Limbe, and you saw for yourself, a cream of brave young learners, who are yearning to learn. It’s true that the attendance rate was not the best, but I am optimistic that more pupils and students will be coming to their respective schools in the days ahead,” Governor Okalia intimated
The Governor’s Message
Going through the different schools, the Governor conveyed messages of Hope and security assurance to the learners who braved the odds to be present in school on the first day.
“…I want to assure you that we shall provide you with all the security you need to carry on with your studies in a serene atmosphere. You are studying now to be better persons in future. Do not doubt fo a second on the path you have chosen. In deed, you shall grow in knowledge to take over from us as Civil servants and other patriotic Cameroonians,” Governor Okalia told students in PGSS in Limbe
Fako School Statistics
According to statistics gathered, no government secondary school in Fako Division, opened its doors this Monday September 2, 2019. A total of 245 students were registered at the Presbyterian High School, Buea town, 130 in Baptist High School, 110 in Presbyterian Girls Secondary School, 98 in Regina Pacis College, Mutengene, 78 in the SONARA College, and 50 in the Government Primary School, Man O’ War Bay.
Meanwhile, Governor Okalia Bilai plans another trip to various schools this Wednesday September 4, 2019.
