The North West Regional Assembly has received medical equipment estimated at 50 million FCFA from two Non-Governmental Organizations destined for health facilities in the region.
The health equipment package consisting of facemasks, drugs, hospital beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs are intended to fight against Covid-19 and emergency cases linked to the current socio-political unrest in the North West region.
The director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, Dr. Denis Nsame appreciated the items saying it will go a long way to improve the health conditions of patients in the region.
“At this moment when we are fighting the pandemic, the regional hospital last week had more than 300 active cases of Covid-19 and at the moment I have more than 30 severe cases admitted in the isolation center”, Dr. Denis Nsame said.
He highlighted that the gifts received will go a long way to help in infection prevention and control during the pandemic. He noted that they are many people who cannot afford drugs and the drugs will help people who fall in that category.
