Supreme court approves Prophet Frank’s CNCM electoral list for Banka, in West region

Elwctions Cameroon, ELECAM is expected to update its list of candidates for the February 9 municipal elections in the hours ahead.

This comes after the administrative unit of the Supreme Court in Yaoundé yesterday during pre-electoral hearings overturned the verdict of the administrative court of Bafoussam. The Bafoussam court had excluded the Cameroon National Citizen Movement, CNCM party from the Banka Municipality of Banka, West Region.

The CNCM party list led by Joseph Ngueussieuk had been disqualified on the grounds that certain candidates of the CPDM party appeared on it without having resigned.

The Supreme Court however ordered the reinstatement of the list of the party owned by Pastor Ndifor Afanwi Franklin. Expressing his joy following the verdict, Joseph Ngueussieuk of the CNCM said “we have just won our first battle. We have trusted the justice of our country, facing a tough adversary!”

“The CNCM comes through my voice to invite you to join it to set in motion the Banka development train” he added.

The High Court also reinstated the list of the Cameroon National Salvation Front party of Minister Issa Tchiroma, in Garoua II.

In the wake of these developments, Cabral Libii has accused the Supreme Court of having made arrangements with the CPDM. The President of the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) saw all 5 requests from his political party rejected.

According to the administrative chamber of the court, it has no jurisdiction to rule on decisions rendered as a last resort by certain administrative courts in the context of requests related to the municipal elections of 09 February.

Other verdicts are expected in the days ahead as the elections are fast approaching. Doubt still looms in the restive North West and South West regions however, as several politicians have backed out citing the security context.
