Some schools in Meme division have received an offer of at least 200 benches from the South West Regional Assembly.
The Commissioner for Education, Sports and Culture of the South West Regional Assembly, Walters Ayuk handed the consignment at a ceremony Friday February 4 in Kumba.
The event which took place on the campus of Government Technical College, GTS , Kumba saw the Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education for Meme, Casmir Abunaw Aghim receiving the benches.
Ayuk while speaking at the ceremony said, the donation is necessitated by the level of arson on schools within the context of the Anglophone crisis. The commission for education he noted designed a project worth 40 million FCFA to make such donations to schools in a bit to boost education. The donation Ayuk said, would be extended to other divisions of the region viz; Fako, Ndian, Lebialem, Kupe-Muanueguba and Manyu.

Ayuk and his delegation expressed satisfaction in what they said, was the quality of benches that would serve children in schools across Meme division. To note that, Kumba has been hosting an influx of students and pupils from other neighbouring divisions and villages within Meme division fleeing the Anglophone crisis.
