President John Magufuli of Tanzania has called on his has country’s health ministry to exercise caution in embracing the Covid-19 vaccines.
Reports say the East African leader cast doubts on the global urge to develop the Covid-19 vaccine and its promotion by foreign companies and countries.
The statesman reportedly claimed that little had been done to help cure other diseases like tuberculosis, HIV-Aids, malaria among other infections.
“You should stand firm. Vaccinations are dangerous,” DW quotes him as saying.
He reportedly added that “…. If the white man was able to come up with vaccinations, he should have found a vaccination for Aids by now; he would have found a vaccination of tuberculosis by now; he would have found a vaccination for malaria by now; he would have found a vaccination for cancer by now”.
His call comes shortly after South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa noted that it was unfair for richer nations to have vaccines and leave out the less economically viable states.
