A teacher recently slid into our inbox, explaining how dissapointed and unappreciated they feel.
In a teary write-up to MMI, one of them put the following in writing:
“Oh, Poor Teachers!
See how parents are celebrating. Parents are being congratulated from left to right. Students are being kissed from one jaw to another. Parties have started already.”
I hear parents telling their boys, ‘Daddy you have done it. MY Boy, you are very intelligent. You have made your father and mummy proud.’
No teacher’s name is mentioned. The only place where the name of a teacher is mentioned is in the homes of unsuccessful students. Hear them, “my child has failed because teachers in that school don’t teach well.”
“Poor us! Soon thanksgiving services and special packages will be served to men of God (Pastors). And the poor teachers who spent sleepless nights preparing these children are left in the cold.”
Let Cameroonians learn to appreciate the efforts of teachers. They are the foundation of any other sector in society.
