Territorial Administration minister, Atanga Nji Paul has urged regional governors to maintain vigilance in the health sector in their respective areas of command.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the second semester governor’s conference in Yaounde today, he reiterated that the Covid-19 pandemic was yet to come to an end, thus the necessity for enforcing preventive measures.
“Government response to Covid-19”, he said, “must remain a national concern.”
Minister Atanga Nji’s call follows the declaration of new cases in some schools in Douala last week, a claim that was highly contested by some parents.
Still at the governors’ conference, the presence of top security officials could not go unnoticed, among them the Delegate General for National Security and the Secretary General in the Ministry of Defence in charge of the Gendarmerie.
The meetig, Minister Atanga Nji noted, comes at a time when the country iis facing a series of challenges including the armed conflict in the North West and South West regions.
With end of year festivities as well as the December 6 Regional Election fast approaching, he added, there is absolute need to beef up security across the national territory.
