Thief sets several houses on fire in Yaounde neighbourhood to facilitate escape

A bandit is said to have been at the origin of a fire outbreak that occurred in a neighbourhood in Yaounde on August 27, 2022.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire outbreak resulted from the use of kerosene by the thief, as a means of facilitating his escape.

It all began when the population of the neighborhood mounted a chase after the robber snatched a lady’s bag.

In an attempt to stop the angry mob from getting to him, the thief lit a fire with the help of Kerosene which unfortunately spread to nearby a nearby makeshift, thereby ravaging several houses.

The incident left many inhabitants of the neighborhood homeless:

“My kids have been sleeping in the open since the fire incident. We were unable to get anything from our house. We will have to beg to survive while waiting to be able to raise money to get another room and clothes” lamented one resident.
Others have blamed the firefighting unit for its poor response to the incident:

“Several families have been left homeless. They were unable to get anything from their homes as the fire sparked unannounced. The worst of it is that we have a firefighting unit at the Mokolo Market just a few kilometers away from us but still, they came late.” complained another resident.

The fire was successfully put out by the youths of the neighborhood before the arrival of the firefighters.
