Three Cameroonian Gendarmes taken hostage by CAR rebels as crisis deepens in neighboring country

Three Cameroonian security agents have reportedly been kidnapped from Adamawa, near the boarder with the Central African Republic.

The gendarmes are said to have been dispatched to ensure security and to prevent the crisis in the Central African Republic from having any negative impacts and of spreading into the country.

The Gendarmes were taken by a rebel group in the Central African Republic known as the 3R and held in Ngoui, a village in Adamawa, near the Central African Republic

They have reportedly demanded for a sum of 15 Million FCFA for each of the three captives.

According to Cameroon-info.net, the rebels have indicated that failure to meet their demands of 15 millions per Gendarme, they will be liberated, but without their weapons and their Vehicle.

It is important to point out that the 3R militia is the largest Rebel group in the Central African Republic, with it’s leader Bi Sidi Souleymane being a Cameroonian who claims he is a defendant of the Fulani people.

The 3R group has been blamed on several crimes against humanity in the Central African Republic such as extra-judicial killings, torture and rape of civilians, with their leader Bi Sidi Souleymane also being directly implicated in most of the abuses.
