Three cyber-criminals arrested in Douala

Gendarmerie authorities in Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala have arrested three individuals said to be specialised in cybercrime.

Security officials say 28-year-old Raul Payang, Sanyong Youssa and his 21-year-old brother, Collins Tchakoyo have been defrauding unfortunate victims on social media.

These individuals will reportedly present themselves as “Powerful Grandmasters” of cults and put forth offers for people who want to get quick riches.

They also run a clique of other cybercriminals who present themselves as members of ‘Illuminati’, preying on the weaknesses and naivety of certain internet users by preaching to them false hopes of how they could be intergrated into the sect and change their lives. Multitudes are said to have fallen into the hands of these cybercriminals everyday.

The criminals arrested by the forces of law and order in the city of Douala, would usually issue forms to their victims to fill, alongside a request for some pictures taken at night and a certain amount of money to be integrated into the cult. They would go on to blackmail their victims using these same photos and demand more money.

The arrest of these three individuals was done as they presented themselves at the ‘Hotel du Nde’ in Douala with a large sum of money which they intended to use in purchasing a luxury car for themselves.
