Three women, including a mother and her daughter, were arrested by Gendarmerie officers in Yaounde, located in the Centre Region of Cameroon. They were apprehended on suspicion of child theft.

According to the official page of the National Gendarmerie, the suspects have been arrested in connection with a complaint filed on August 24, 2023. The complaint pertains to the theft of a 3-year-old girl in the locality of New Etoa Meki Road.

Based on the post, the diligent gendarmerie officers conducted multiple investigations and successfully located the young girl at a location known as Rails Ngousso.

The little girl was discovered in the residence of a suspect and their daughter, who stated that they had found the child outside their home. The two suspects claimed that they were holding the child while waiting for the parents to respond.

“They located her in the house of a lady who lives with her daughter. Both declared that they found the child in front of their house, and were expecting that her parents would come look for her,” stated the post by the National Gendarmerie.

“The child was handed to her family, and both suspects were taken to the Unit for investigation,” they went on.

The main suspect, along with her daughter and their accomplice, appeared before the Mfoundi High Court on August 29, 2023. The trio was then transferred to Nkodengui prison.
