Timber traffickers attack, kill Eco-guard in Maroua

Enyang Julius Ayuk Julius, an eco-guard from the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife has been killed by timber traffickers in Maroua, Far North Region of Cameroon.

He was attacked on the morning of October 17, 2022, while on duty.

According to reports, the eco-guard, who equally served as Head of Post and Forestry and Hunting Control in Maroua gave up the ghost after succumbing to the injuries incurred in the attack.

“He had once served as Chief of Post in Mundemba, Ndian division and later transferred to Kumba in Meme division in the same capacity. When he was assigned to Maroua, he left behind his wife and children but thereafter, moved them to Maroua for fear of the unknown. The deceased got married barely 5 years ago; in 2017, ” revealed Express FM Radio 91.5.

Reacting to the incident, Jules Doret Ndongo Minister of Forestry and Wildlife expressed his condolences to the saddened family, urging competent services to begin tracking down the perpetrators of this crime until they are brought before the courts.

Investigations have been launched to identify the killers.
