Today’s major headlines in Cameroon — April 7th 2022

Five suspected kidnappers have been arrested and presented to the press in Douala, Littoral region. They are accused of several counts of kidnaps and rape of several women around the PK13 and PK20 neighborhoods. They will appear before a judicial officer in the days ahead.

Several homes have been ravaged by a fire today in Moungo, Littoral Region of Cameroon. The helpless population could do very little to limit the damage. Fortunately no life was lost in the incident.

An incarcerated supporter of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, MRC opposition party has reportedly died today from cholera. Rodrigue Dagueyo Koufouet had been at the New Bell prison since 2020. Many inmates are allegedly infected with the disease inside the prison.

Former head coach of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, Antonio Conceiçao is in line to take over as head coach of Burkina Faso. Few months after losing his place to Rigobert Song Bahanag, the Portuguese could bounce back with another African nation longing for his services.
