“Traditional institutions shouldn’t be targets for settling selfish or egoistic political scores” – Popular Action Party

The Popular Action Party, PAP, has condemned the recent Kidnapping and killing of traditional authorities as well as civilians in the crisis-hit North West and South West regions of Cameroon.

Njang Denis Tabe, the party’s president in a statement says the act is totally unacceptable, censor of opinions and imposition of involuntary will on an autonomous individual.”

The PAP, he noted, condemns “in strongest terms extrajudicial killings, irrespective of the author. All lives matter, all lives are precious and priceless.”

“Traditional institutions shouldn’t be targets for settling selfish or egoistic political scores, be it the failed CPDM-Biya’s government or the separatists interim government,” he added.

The politician also turned his attention to diaspora separatist leaders, urging them to “call their boys to order while at the same time, exalting our traditional rulers, opinion holders and the civilian population at large, to stand on the right side of history, to stand with the people and stand for nothing short of the truth, of justice.”

“We equally call on the population of the restive villages, victims of such inhumane and sacrilegious acts to decry and denounce,” stated the Popular Action Party.

Reiterating the need for dialogue, the Popular Action Party in its statement proposed that; “revisiting the 1961 basis of coming together, general amnesty to all prisoners and exiled Southern Cameroonians, pardon and reconciliation of our colonial past and above all relinquishing of power for a new Republic will ease tensions and pave way for frank discussions and hence sustainable peace.”
