Cameroon’s Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe has withdrawn the Driver’s License of Mr. Eyambe Julius Sakwe, a bus driver of General Express Travel Agency.
The withdrawal of Mr. Eyambe Julius’ license is due to excess speeding, which to the Minister, placed a lot of lives at risk.
On January 4, 2022, surveillance footage from a bus driven by the driver showed his recklessness while driving with more than 70 passengers on board.
The driver had lost control of his bus, resulting in a road accident which caused several injuries among the passengers.
The footage also revealed that the driver was drowsy on the steering, and was without a seat belt.
His license has since been suspended by the Transport Ministry for 6 months.
Minister Ngalle Bibehe has called on public transport drivers to always take appropriate safety measures on the highway.
