The Cameroon Lunar Crescent Council has confirmed that the feast of Ramadan will be celebrated on Thursday. Muslims will therefore have to wait one more day as many had anticipated the religious event for tomorrow Wednesday.

Preparations for the feast of Ramadan this Thursday have intensified. Muslim faithfuls have been making last minute purchases while waiting for the feast.

The Douala Court of First Instance has sentenced two popular Cameroonian crossdressers to 5 years in jail for homosexual practices. Njeumack Loic aka Shakiro was sentenced alongside his friend, Mouthe Roland.


The decomposed body of a 60-year-old man has been discovered at the quartier Bejanga in Douala. His body is believed to have been discovered after he died inside his room days earlier.

Traders at Marché Congo, victims of last year’s fire incident continue to reject administration’s request to relocate to a new site. They argue that the government has not constructed permanent sheds in the new site thereby making it difficult for them to do business there.

Cameroon has received military equipment to combat terrorists in Central African Republic. The minister of defence received the equipment today in Douala. Pundits say Cameroon is involved in a peace keeping mission in CAR when Cameroon is facing serious security threats at home.

Paul Achombong, City Mayor of Bamenda says ghost towns continue to threaten and affect revenue collection process in the city. Despite this, he applauds the fact that security has improved since motorcycles were limited to the quarters.
