The office of the Mayor of Banganté Council in the West region remains closed. For the second time this week, elective Council sessions to get the new mayor have failed. Though all Councilors were present today, election still failed to take place as locals continue to stand against an imposition of a candidate by the ruling CPDM party.

Six workers of the Kumbo Council have been in the hands of unknown kidnappers suspected to be separatist fighters for four days now. The Mayor of Kumbo has called on the Governor of the North West to use all means possible to maintain security. Governor Adolph Lele L’Afrique, speaking this evening in a security meeting in Kumbo, says the population should intensify collaboration with the military to stamp out insecurity.
