As anticipated by many, the Cameroon army has again denied killing civilians in Mbonge, in the restive South West Region of Cameroon. The outing of the defence ministry today, contradicts evidence and testimonies by locals who say about 20 civilians were shot dead alongside separatist fighters on March 18, by government security operatives.


An abandoned baby girl is receiving medical attention at the Biyémassi district hospital in Yaounde, capital of Cameroon. The baby was found at Damas neighbourhood and taken to the hospital at the weekend. The social service and the gendarmerie have launched findings.


Boko Haram has rekindled fear in the hearts of people in the Logon et Chari Division in the Far North region. Authorities have since called on the people to be vigilant and report all suspects. This comes after a fresh attack yesterday that left one soldier and two civilians dead.

At least 400 people of Ndienne village in Meme Division in the South West region of Cameroon have received free medical attention from elements of the 21 Motorised infantry battalion in Buea. The village’s lone health center was set ablaze in 2019 by suspected separatists leaving residents helpless, reports say. Separatists have blamed soldiers of burning schools and homes in the prevailing armed-conflict.


Several families have been rendered homeless in Maroua 2 Sub-Division in Far North region. This comes after the forceful eviction of residents for the construction of government structures. Administrative authorities say indemnities/compensation were given to to those with authentic documents justifying purchase of the land in the area.

The Cameroon Medical Council has endorsed vaccination against COVID-19. In a release today, the Council encouraged Cameroonians to take the Astrazeneca vaccine against COVID-19 and to respect safety measures against the pandemic.


Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute is due to represent President Paul Biya at the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of Central African Republic on Tuesday. Prof. Faustin-Achange Touadera starts a second mandate at a time when insecurity and attacks have multiplied in the country – with rebels occupying greater parts of the conflict-prone nation.


An elephant has reportedly killed one person in Buea l. The incident took place at the Mount Cameroon National Park. The victim was a forest guard who was on patrol. The elephant which had just given birth is said to have felt threatened and attacked the guard, killing him in the process.


The UK Minister for Africa Hon. James Duddridge has revealed that he held discussions with Cameroonian President, Paul Biya. The talks, he noted, focused on the Anglophone crisis. Hon. Duddridge said inclusive dialogue remains the only solution to the crisis.
