Irate contract workers of the Energy Supply Company (ENEO) in the West region of Cameroon held a crisis meeting with the Governor today. Awa Fonka Augustine promised that worries raised by the ENEO personnel will be resolved within three weeks. The workers are demanding the payment of four months salary arrears — and full employment after serving the company for years.


Dismissed workers of the University of Yaounde II Soa, say they won’t stop protesting until their rights are respected. Today, they staged a protest in front of the Ministry of Higher Education in Yaounde. They are seeking re-integration into the public service or compensation.


COVID-19 vaccines are due to be administered to Cameroonians starting this month. Officials of the Ministry of Public Health say the vaccines will arrive Cameroon on April 11, 2021. Some Cameroonians have been hostile towards the vaccine roll out program — saying its side effects may be disastrous.


Cameroon’s National Council of Medical Doctors has stated that taking COVID-19 vaccine is the surest way to stop the spread of the pandemic. The president of the council made the declaration during an audience with Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute.


Female parliamentarians in Cameroon have exhibited past and present MPs in a ceremony in Yaounde. The speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Cavaye Yeguié Djibril visited the picture gallery today as he celebrated the steady rise in women representation in parliament through the ten legislative periods.
