At last, some hope for former CRTV General Manager, Gervais Mendoze. Reports say President Paul Biya has ordered that the incarcerated and ailing former official be released to get better medical treatment. Mendoze is currently serving a 20-year jail term for embezzlement.


Dozens of business men at Kousserie Central market in the Far North region of Cameroon have seen their shops reduced to ashes. This was in the course of a fire incident last evening at 7:00 p.m. Business men are pointing accusing fingers on an electrical fault.


Municipal policemen in Douala have demolished makeshift shops located along the road around Sandagar Market to ensure free circulation of vehicles and persons. In the process, the agents equally impounded commercial motorcycles on grounds of wrong parking.


Paul Eric Kingue will be buried tomorrow in Njombe Penja Sub Division in Moungo Division. The remains of the former Mayor will be removed from Douala Laquantini hospital mortuary at 9:00 a.m. and taken to Njombe Penja for burial.

Three civilians have been confirmed dead in the Mokolo locality, Mayo Tsanaga Division after an attack by Boko Haram Terrorists. Several others are nursing wounds from the deadly attacks at the Mokolo district hospital in the Far North Region.

At least 10 cases of cholera have been discovered in the neighbourhood of Monaco in Douala, with 1 death. Health experts say the recurring cases of cholera in the area are due to it’s poor sanitary conditions.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC) has summoned some land owners in Buea for an important meeting in Yaoundé. They are requested to come to the meeting with their land documents. The reason for the summon has not yet been disclosed.

Kenya has run out of ICU beds as the country deals with a surge in Covid-19 cases, the doctors’ union has said. Healthcare workers are among those admitted at various hospitals across the country, Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) said in a statement.

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, has acknowledged for first time that troops from neighbouring Eritrea have been taking part in the conflict in the northern region of Tigray. For months both countries have denied that troops crossed the border.


Kenya Airways has made a record net loss of $332m (£241m) in 2020, compared to $118 million the previous year. The 179% increase in loss has been attributed to a complete shutdown in international air travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The national carrier reported that passenger numbers reduced by 65.7% to 1.8 million in the reported year, leading to a $473m loss in revenue.
