President Donald Trump Diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency, White House Confirms

U.S. President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. This is a common but non-life-threatening vascular condition, following recent speculation about visible swelling in his legs. The diagnosis was confirmed by the White House on Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the 79-year-old president underwent a full medical evaluation after observers noted swelling in his lower limbs and bruising on one of his hands during public appearances.

Diagnostic Tests Confirm Circulatory Disorder

Leavitt stated that the president’s medical team conducted “diagnostic vascular studies. It included bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds,” which confirmed the diagnosis.

She explained, “The condition is benign and common, particularly in individuals over the age of 70.”

Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when vein valves in the legs become weak or damaged, leading to impaired blood flow back to the heart. It can cause symptoms such as swelling, leg cramps, and varicose veins. The disorder affects an estimated 150,000 Americans annually, with age being a leading risk factor.

President Remains in Good Health, Says White House

Despite the diagnosis, Leavitt emphasized that the president remains in “good overall health.”

“There was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” she said. “All test results were within normal limits, and the president maintains normal cardiac structure and function with no signs of heart failure, kidney problems, or systemic illness.”

Hand Bruising Attributed to Routine Causes

Leavitt also addressed concerns regarding visible bruising on the president’s hand, which was noticed in recent photos.

She said it was “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation” caused by frequent handshaking and regular use of aspirin, a standard part of the president’s cardiovascular health management.

Conservative Management, No Surgery Required

According to the White House, the president will not require surgery. His condition is being managed conservatively with medication and ongoing monitoring.

The administration reports that President Trump will continue his regular schedule without interruption.
