Two Civilians Killed, Eight Injured in Less Than 24 Hours in Bamenda.

At least two civilians have been killed and at least eight others injured in separate violent incidents in Bamenda, headquarters of the North West Region.

The tragedy occurred in less than 24 hours, leaving the city in panic mode. While one was targeted killing, the other resulted from a crossfire between suspected armed separatists and security forces.

One killed is identified as John Paul, while the other MMI got as Carine

John Paul, a businessman linked to the NSO Boyz travel agency, MMI gathered, was pulled out of his house at Njengang in Nkwen and killed by unidentified gunmen. Reports say the incident occurred in the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

In the afternoon of Thursday, January 16, another tragedy struck Bamenda. One civilian, identified as Carine, a vegetable vendor and a native of Nso, was killed in a crossfire around Texaco near Ntambesi junction in mile 2 Nkwen.

A shootout between security forces and suspected armed separatists erupted around the area, costing the lives of the aforementioned.

Denizens who were moving about their businesses escaped for their safety, seeking shelter where available. Traffic was also halted, according to amateur footage obtained by MMI.

Eight civilians injured by stray bullets were rushed to the Nkwen District Hospital.At the time of this report, critical cases were reportedly transferred to the Bamenda Regional Hospital.

Security forces trooped to the scene shortly after the shooting incident.

Uneasy calm reigns as locals express fear for the unknown.

Several weeks back, separatists attacked the Ntambesi checkpoint, killing security officers and carting away weapons.

Authorities as well as separatists have not made a statement regarding the incident .
