Two dead as Boko Haram strikes Cameroon’s Far North again!

Two civilians have been killed by members of the Boko Haram terrorist sect in Mayo Sava in the Far North region. The group struck in the locality of Mahoula at about 10:00PM yesterday, overwhelmed the vigilante members on duty, and had them tortured.

Reports say some youths attempted to escape from the attackers and alert security forces, but were apprehended and killed at close range. The current death toll at the end of the attack was set at two, with three others injured.

The latest attack follows another in Dabanga in the Logone and Chari division where the terrorists killed three persons.

The recent attacks come as a surprise to many given the first rains. It is believed that the group finds it harder to attack in the rainy season as the rains make it hard for them to successfully carryout their attacks in the region.

Despite having declared the Boko Haram sect defeated in Cameroon, the group continues to carry out hit and run attacks in the Far North region.

As security forces deployed to the region keep striving to end the insurgency, many are of the opinion that their response is being slowed by the battle against separatists in the North West and South West regions, given that they combat on two fronts.
