Two individuals found dead in Bafia
MMI has received disturbing footage depicting two deceased individuals hanging from ropes in Bafia, located in the Mbam et Inoubou Division of Cameroon’s Centre Region. The bodies were discovered in separate locations: one inside a house and the other within a store.
According to an informant, the second victim was a 16-year-old identified only as Sorel. His body was found on Monday, July 15. The recent hanging deaths follow a period of relative calm in the division, which had previously experienced a spate of stabbing incidents.
A source on the ground noted, “Bafia’s insecurity is returning even stronger. Recently, after a period of stabbings and murders from January to March 2024, we are now witnessing cases of hangings within less than a week. Already, two bodies have been recorded.” The source added that this has intensified concerns within the Bafia community.
In the videos shared with MMI, Gendarme officers are seen examining the bodies of the two individuals and removing them from the ropes. At this stage, it remains unclear whether the deaths were suicides or if they were staged to appear as such. Authorities are currently investigating to determine the true cause of death.
This incident comes just a week after the delegate of youth and sports in Limbe was found hanging dead in his office. Opinions remain divided on whether this was a genuine suicide or a carefully staged scenario.
