Two Inmates die after Douala Prison Fire

Two inmates are dead following a ravaging fire incident at New Bell Central prison in Douala Thursday May 28th 2020.

According to a source in the prison, “the two boys were burnt to death as they could not easily escape the flames.” Another injured inmate is battling between life and death in a hospital.

He adds that a greater part of prison doesn’t have electricity following the fire incident.

The number deaths have however not been confirmed by authorities.

As of Friday May 29th, inmates are cleaning the burnt section.
