Two Killed In Military Raid In Weh Village Thursday Morning

Two persons are said to have been killed in Weh, a village in Menchum Division of Cameroon’s North West region.
This, residents say, was during a raid in the village Thursday morning by members of the Cameroon military.

Those killed, reports say, are a certain Etai Sylvanus and Big (popularly known as Eposi), son of the late Chief of Mbau’su. Houses in some parts of the village were also set ablaze as the population fled into the bushes for safety.

Interior places used as safety grounds during gun battles locals say are becoming risky by the day, as the military is said to have extended burning right to Ke’nven, an interior part of the village.

Today’s attack comes on the heels of another by the military on Tuesday that left a popular man in Wehknown as, Kaisa killed.

Months back, we are told, the military surprised the population during a general clean-up campaign and assured them they are there to protect them and should not run when they see them. This week’s havoc by the military has left many in shock, wondering why the very people who assured them of protection continue burning houses, shooting and killing them.
