Cameroon’s Under 17 men football team have emerged winners of the just-ended Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFFAC) tournament, which played in Limbe, Southwest Region from January 12-18.
The U17 Lions were crowned winners on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
In the course of the tournament, they earned a 2-0 and 4-0 win against Congo and the Central African Republic, respectively.
The UNIFFAC victory has given Cameroon a free ticket into the Under 17 African Cup of Nations alongside Congo, who finished second.
Cameroonian player, Angel Yondjo, equally emerged top goal scorer and best player of the competition with 3 goals and two assists in two games.
The tournament was only played by three, instead of four countries that qualified: Cameroon, Central African Republic and Congo.
Chad was disqualified by CAF just hours to the tournament’s kick-off time because most players did not meet up with the compulsory age limit.
