UN promises medical support to victims of Kumba school killings

According to humanitarian Coordinator, Mathias Naah, the World Health Organisation, WHO has already supported the Kumba District Hospital with medical supplies for the treatment of the 13 injured children.

“I am shocked and enraged by the killing of innocent school children who were attending school to get an education.
“On behalf of the United Nations and the wider humanitarian community in Cameroon. I extend our deepest condolences to the families those killed children and our support to the children wounded and their families and to all the community,” said Mr Naah.
Official figure state that six children were killed after gunmen attacked Mother Francisca International Bilingual Academy in Kumba, leaving 13 others injured among them seven critical cases.
“The United Nations will continue to support efforts by the government and Non-governmental organisations to provide necessary medical assistance to the wounded,” OCHA stated in their recent release.
The organisation further reiterated the right for children to go to school, adding that “violence against schools and innocent children is not acceptable under any circumstances and can constitute a crime against humanity if proven in a court of law.”
