UN Secretary General reveals damaging impact of Covid-19 on Africa

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres says millions of lives in Africa are at risk in Africa as the deadly coronavirus spreads across the globe.

Talking to France 24, Guterres said even the youth are not spared, urging the world to “wake up soonest” and ensure it doesn’t happen.

Antonio Guterres has called on the European Union to mobilise funds and “come to Africa’s aid…because millions and million will die…”.

Africa’s weak health care systems amid brain drain in the medical field are another major stumbling block for the affected countries.

There are now more than 3,200 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the continent’s 46 countries. Only eight countries are virus-free.

Eighty-three people have died of the deadly coronavirus in Africa.
